Raymond H. Shurr, age 91 of Colville, Washington (formerly of Renton and Minot, North Dakota) passed away on February 4, 2008 at Mount Carmel Hospital in Colville.

Ray was born on November 24, 1916 on the family farm near Glenburn, North Dakota, the son of Frederick and Helen Shurr. He graduated from Glenburn High School and John Deer Tractor School. He drove truck and combines during harvest and worked in a flour mill for 16 years. He had many skills including blue print reading, tool grinding, welding and working in the machine shop. In 1967 he moved to Renton, where he worked for Boeing, where he helped build the tapered section of the minute man missile. In his leisure time he enjoyed gardening, flowers and vegetables, wood working, lathe work, welding, and sharpening tools and lawn mower blades for his friends and neighbors. In 2000 he moved to Colville to be near his daughter and in 2005 he moved into Parkview.

Survivors include two sons Michael Shurr, of Gig Harbor, Washington, Melvin Barsness, of Olympia and Yuma; daughter Judith Davison, of Colville, Washington, and daughter Gloria Summers of Renton; four sisters, Hazel O'Connell, of Rugby, ND, Agnes Shurr, of Grand Forks, ND, Harriet Shurr, of Fargo, ND, and Mary Jane Gall, of Orono, Maine; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Margaret Rollman Barsness.

A funeral service will be held 11am, Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Flintofts Issaquah Funeral Home, 540 E. Sunset Way, Issaquah, Washington. A visitation for family and friends will precede the service from 9 to 11 am.

Private burial will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton next to his second wife Mildred Shurr who passed away in 1998.
