381. Oliver Chatfield I was born on 23 July 1730 in Quaker Farms, Derby, New Haven Co., Connecticut, USA. He died on 30 June 1778 at the age of 47 in Oxford, New Haven Co., Connecticut, USA. He was buried in Hillside Cmtry., Oxford, New Haven Co., Connecticut, USA. Oliver was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, enlisting May 19, 1775 and discharged Dec 20, 1775. In Jun 1776, he re-enlisted in Capt. Nathaniel Johnson's Co., Col. William Douglas' Regiment, 5th Battalion, and served until Dec 25, 1776. He later served in the company with Lieut. Jabez Pritchard. He served as a Private in the Third Company of General Wooster's Regiment at the Seige of Boston, marching to "The Relief at Boston in the Lexington Alarm" in Apr 1775, under the command of Capt. John Thompson's Co., Col. David Wooster's Reg.

D.A.R. says Oliver served as a Pvt. under Capt.'s Thompson and Johnson; and Col.'s Wooster and Douglas' Connecticut Troops. He was b. 1730 in Derby, New Haven, CT and d. at Oxford, New Haven, CT. His descendants are eligible for membership in D.A.R.

The will of Oliver, dated Jun 30, 1788 and proved Dec 15, 1788, names his wife Zerviah, his sons Benajah, Isaac, Eli, Oliver, Dan, Abijah, and Joseph. Also, his dau.'s Patience Gilbert and Elizabeth Chatfield.

Oliver Chatfield I and Zerviah Tomlinson were married about 1752. Zerviah Tomlinson, daughter of Isaac Tomlinson and Patience Gaylord, was born about 1735 in Derby, New Haven Co., Connecticut, USA. She died after 1788 at the age of 53 in Connecticut, USA.
