Isabella was born in NY. ----- CHARLES CONVERSE CHATFIELD, I (1841-1876): Charles was a graduate of Yale College, and, after his graduation resided in New Haven, CT conducting the 'College Courant', of which he was both editor and proprietor. He afterwards became the editor of the New England School Journal, which position he continued to fill, worthily, until his death. He was the class poet and was a leading member of the West Chapel street Church, now merged in the Trinity Church, having with his brother George been in it since his college days, when they, with others, started the Sunday School which was the nucleus of the church. Charles helped found the newspaper at Yale 'The Courant'. He also publisher 'Barker's Chemistry', 'Boggs Four Years at Yale', 'Day's Logical Tracts', 'Half Hours with Modern Scientists', and sermons by President Woolsey, etc. He also kept the Yale college bookstore. At the close of 1874, Messrs. C. C.Chatfield and T. W. Bicknell purchased the right of publishing the Massachusetts Teacher, and it was merged in the New England Journal of Education. CHARLES C.
