Thurber R. Chatfield worked perhaps for Sperry and Barns Meat Packing Company in New Haven Ct. (not sure of the correct spelling of Meat Packing Corp.) Do know that he, Thurber R. Chatfield, was born April 22nd 1875 in Killingworth Connecticut. He married October 1st 1902 in Killingworth Connecticut his first wife Inez Jillson Cowie. She was born May 31st 1878 in Webster Massachusetts. She died January 26th 1927 in Washington Connecticut. He then married not so soon after my grandmother Florence T. Baker Chatfield. I don't know who Thurber's parents were and who Florences parents were? I do know that Florence came from the Fall River, Massachusetts area. Can you help me find their parents?

Tibbetts was Florence's mothers maiden name. According to Durfee Records; they have our grandmother listed as Florence May Tibbetts (Tibi) I do recall folks referring to her as Tibi.

I am a Chatfield from Washington Connecticut and am looking for information on my family that lived in Washington Depot CT back in the 1920's through the 1950's. I was told that my grandfather Thurber R. Chatfield born April 22nd 1875 in Killingworth CT migrated to that area and lived on Bee Brook Road where he owned and operated a lumber company called Chatfield Lumber. He came to that area with his large family of nine children and that he also owned a grocery store and gas station with an apartment that he rented out over the store. After his wife died in 1927 he remarried a young 24-year-old Florence Tibbetts my grandmother. I know very little about her. I only know that she came from Fall River Massachusetts and that her birth date may have been August 1899. Florence and Thurber had two boys and a girl. I hope you can help point me in the right direction. I was told that the Chatfield’s home had burned down. If so, how did the fire start and when did it burn? I was told that my father's sister Hope Chatfield died June 1957 and was buried on the family’s property and that there was a headstone. If this is true where is she now that the land in a public park? Where Chatfield Lumber sat I believe that in the general area the new Washington Firehouse sits. Anyone having information that knows anything of this family you can contact me. Thank you.
