Mr. Winne was born Nov. 11, 1945, in Corry, Pa., son of the late Michael Edwin Winne and Florence (Woodring) (Winne) Sammis. David was a retired sheet metal worker for Bethany Sheet Metal. He was a member of Seymour Evangelical Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Vietnam War and also served in the Army National Guard. He recently received the Wartime Service Medal. David was also a member of Post 50 American Legion, Ansonia. Mr. Winne was a volunteer at Griffin Hospital and was a founding member of the Valley Heart Club. David was a lifetime member of the Bethany Historical Society. In addition to his wife, David leaves his loving family, including two sons, Mark Winne and his partner, Ronald Cardone, of Beacon Falls and Michael Winne and his wife, Tawnya, of Tolland; a daughter, Maria Alegi and her husband, Charles, of Naugatuck; two brothers, Gale Winne of Corry, Pa., and Peter Sammis of Hamden; three sisters, Diane Vancise of Corry, Pa., Jill Pasqualini of North Stonington and Peggy Calomo of Penhook, Va.; two granddaughters, Sarah and Emily Alegi of Naugatuck; and several nieces and nephews. His sister, Judy Hurlbert, predeceased him. David's funeral will be held Wednesday, June 2, at 10 a.m. in the Seymour Evangelical Baptist Church, 104 Mountain Road, Seymour. Interment with full military honors will be in Christ Church Cemetery, Bethany. Family and friends are invited to call Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Ralph E.
