Madgwick's own will, dated 22 Feb. 1765 was proved on 17 Dec. 1779; probate of the
will of John Madgwick of Lewes, Mercer, ESRO, AMS 2140. Among other provisions,

He left his wife £50 p.a., a portion of £1,000 each to two daughters, £16 p.a. to his
daughters for maintenance until they were twenty-one, and the same to one son up to his
age of twelve, when he was to be sent to boarding-school.

He lived in the parish of All Saints, Lewes, where six of his eight children were baptised:
