WILL OF GEORGE SICKLER
In the name of God amen. I George Sickler of Beekman Town in Dutchess county and State of New York being weak in body, but of sound memory, blessed be God, do this eleventh day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following, that is to say, First I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Kesiah Sickler all my household goods and furniture of any kind or name whatsoever and one cow. And I further will and order that all the remainder of my estate shall be sold within, or at the end of one year next after my decease, at the direction of my executors herein after named, and I further will and order that all my just debts shall be paid, and that my widow shall have the sum of fifty pounds in lieu of right of dower and power of thirds. And I do further order as followeth, I give to my son Matthias Sickler the sum of three pounds, and to my son William Sickler the sum of ten pounds, and to my son Jacob Sickler the sum of ten pounds, and to my grandchildren Johannes Sickler, George Sickler, Matthias Sickler, Abraham Sickler and Rachel Sickler children of my son Johannis Sickler deceased, the sum of one pound each, and I give to my daughter Elizabeth Brumfield the sum of five pounds, and I give to my daughter Mary Potts five pounds, and I give to my daughter Catherine Martin the sum of five pounds, and I give to my daughter Hannah Sickler the sum of fifteen pounds, all of which sums given as aforesaid to be of good and lawful money of New York. And I do further will and order that all the remainder of my estate shall be equally divided betwixt my six sons, namely Matthias Sickler, George Sickler, Philip Sickler, Peter Sickler, William Sickler and Jacob Sickler, and that my sons William Sickler, Jacob Sickler
and my grandchildren herein before named shall receive their several legacies when they severally arrive to the age of twenty one years. And I make and ordain then Matthias Sickler, Andrew Skidmore, and Maurice Plea(?) executors of this my will in trust for the intents and purposes in this my will contained. In witness whereof, I the said George Sickler have to this my last will and testament, set my hand and seal, the day and year above written.
