INVERNESS, Fla. - Former Edison and Chesterville resident Korena O. Hoffman, 94, died on Friday, April 11, 2008, at the Avanta Nursing Home in Inverness, Fla.
She moved to Morrow County in 1952.
A registered nurse, her nursing nickname was "Cory." She was one of the original nurses at the Morrow County Hospital when it opened in 1952. During her nursing career, she worked for Dr. Brody, Dr. Hickson, the Morrow County Health Department, and she was Director of Nurses at Jane M. Case Hospital (Grady Memorial) in Delaware. She had also worked at the Lutheran Memorial Camp as the camp nurse.
She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Hoffman of Broken Arrow, Okla., John (Carole) Hoffman of Fredericktown; two daughters, Gloria (Robert) Corbitt of Deerfield and Sheryle (Robert) Bailey of Mount Gilead; 11 grandchildren, David, Deanne, Kim, Kelly, Nancy, Laura, Christine, Jim, Sabrina, Eric and Andrea; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Hoffman, on Feb. 13, 2000; her parents, her brother, John Barrow, and two sisters, Lura Coleman and Alice Schamp.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of North Woodbury.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008, at the Caledonia Cem., Caledonia.
