Obituary
Mrs. Charlotte May Owens, a former resident of Alton, died unexpectedly this morning in Edward Hospital, Napervllle, according to word received by a son, Melvin Owens of Alton.
Mrs. Owens, who was born in July 6, 18S8, at Elsberry, Mo., a daughter of the late David and Mary Jeans, had been in Naperville for the past 10 years with her son-in-law and daughter, the Rev. and Mrs. Robert C. Kemper. The Rev. Kemper is a former pastor of First Congregational Church, Alton.
She had resided in Alton since, childhood and was a charter member of Alton Gospel Tabernacle. Surviving in addition to her daughter. Mrs. Kemper, and son, Melvln, are two sons, Vernon of California, and Donald of St. Louis; her husband, W. P. Owens, Alton, and eight grandchildren.
The body will be brought to Alton and upon arrival here Tuesday will be taken to Gent Chapel where friends may call after 3 p.m. tomorrow. Funeral rites will be conducted Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the chapel by the Rev. C. L. Gruver, pastor of Alton Gospel Tabernacle. Burial will be in Valhalla Memorial Park.
