Vincent L. Callahan
Vincent L. Callahan 86 of Bella Vista, Ark died Saturday Nov. 29, 2003 from heart complications. He was born Oct 29, 1917 in Epworth, Iowa to James Francis Callahan and Myrtle Sweeney Callahan. He married Margaret Elizabeth Scott on July 3, 1938 in Center Grove, Iowa. They met as first graders at Epworth Grammar School. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. He has been a business owner, a restauranteur, an ordained minister and a missionary to Brazil, and has been retired for many years. He was a skilled athlete and an avid golfer with seven holes in one. He and his wife traveled extensively to many countries.
He was preceeded in death by one son, Patrick David Callahan and a sister Irene Callahan Oberfoell.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years Margaret Callahan; three daughters and son-in-laws
Carrie Jo Johnson and Dixon Johnson of Long Beach, CA, Diana Clayborn and Glenn Clayborn of Welch, OK and Linda Call and Bill Call of Tulsa, Tulsa, OK; a son James Michael Callahan of Lake Murray, Ardmore, OK; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray Callahan and Florence Callahan, and Noel Callahan and Rita Callahan, all of Epworth, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Mark Carey, Melissa Carey, Erin Johnson, Samuel Paddack, Jake Callahan, Jonathan Call and Kelley Callahan; two great-granddaughters Brianna Elizabeth Callahan and Emily Grace Kelley, and many other relatives. Graveside funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec 2, at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, OK.
