William Ames, Sr.
William E. Ames, Sr., 89, died on Sunday, Dec. 18, 1988 at War Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Pickford on Dec. 8, 1899 and was a lifelong resident there.
A farmer for many years, he also worked for the Chippewa County Road Commission, retring in 1965 after 17 years on the job. He was a member of Pickford United Methodist Church and the Pickford Area Senior Citizens Club.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Beacom) Ames; one son, William E. Ames, Jr., of Pickford; and three daughters, Neva Jean Perry of the Sault, Mrs. Margaret (Charles) Izzard of Pickford, and Mrs. Velma (James) Graham of Flushing. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by 8 brothers and sisters.
