Rose Iris Eckerman, 88, of Sheridan died Saturday, June 30, 2001, at Sheridan Manor. Memorial services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday in the Chapel at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ronald Nelson officiating. Interment of remains will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mrs. Eckerman was born Feb. 5, 1913, in Whitewood, S.D., to Phillip and Christina (Hett) McCoy. She grew up and graduated from high school in Whitewood, received her nurse's training in California and worked at Mercy Hospital. She came to Sheridan to work at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County soon after it was built. She married Peter Eckerman in Hardin, Mont. She retired after 35 years as a registered nurse. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Nursing Association. She enjoyed beadwork among other hobbies. She was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include a son, Donald Lerner of Nevada.
