Milton J. Babcock, 89, an organizer of the Albion Co-op Creamery Co., and its secretary-treasurer for many years, died Monday afternoon in the Kegonsa Rest Home near Stoughton.
Mr. Babcock was born July 5, 1867, in Shelby County, Ohio. As a boy, he moved to the Albion area with his parents. He was married to Edith Potter, Dec. 26, 1894. They spent their married life on the Potter farm. She died Jan. 15, 1943.
He taught in Albion Academy, also in the public schools of Dane and Walworth counties, and was honored and respected by all who knew him.
Mr. Babcock was active in the Albion Seventh Day Baptist Church and served as deacon from 1901 until his death. He was church clerk for many years; was prominent in the Northwestern association of Seventh Day Baptist Churches.
Surviving are a son, Willard, on the home farm, at Albion; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth CHATFIELD, Milton Junction, and Mrs. Dorothy Nyland, Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Mrs. Herbert C. Van Horn, Milton; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Albion Seventh Day Baptist Church, The Rev. Kenneth Smith officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery, Albion. Friends may call at the Jones funeral home in Edgerton from 2 p.m. Thursday until noon Friday.
