He suceeded in his father's post war occupation as a merchant tailor on center street in New Haven, Connecticut. Opening a store on Broadway St. and prospering there until he retired 15 years prior to his passing.
He was also a famed tenor in the New Haven area. At the heighth of his singing career, Langdale was a member of the famous Barbershop Quartet composed of Ernest C. Bennett, Brother In-Law George P. Smith, Frank Kellogg and himself. He also sang in the chiors of Trinity, P.E., Dwight Place Congregational, Cavalry Baptist Churches. He also had prominent roles in musical shows produced by amateurs in New Haven and was of a group of singers who were frequently engaged to sing in the chorus of professional music shows staged in the old Carll Opera House, now the college theater. Mr. Langdale was also a member of Hiram Lodge, A.F. & A.M. and a 32nd Degree Mason.
