Narrative

Dr. Griffith "Bob" Champion Miller, M.D passed away on June 1st at his home in Norman, Oklahoma. He was born on September 29, 1929 in Preston, Oklahoma the last of three children born to Natura E. Roberts and Cyril Hastie Miller. He grew up in Sapulpa and joined the U.S. Navy for three years following high school. After his service in the Navy, he attended Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska where he studied theology for a year and then he transferred to Louisiana State University to begin pre-medical study. He was accepted to the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in 1957 and graduated in 1961 with a General Practice specialty. Dr. Miller practiced medicine throughout the state of Oklahoma, primarily in Norman, for 48 years. His greatest joys in life were caring for others, AND a good 18 holes of golf! Dr. Miller is preceded in death by his parents, his son Richard Robert Miller, and his grandson Zachary Scott Roderick. He is survived by his brother Cyril Miller and his sister Marjorie Wallace, both of Texas; Mauryne Miller (Ardmore, Oklahoma) and their daughters Cyndy Miller-Hughes (Loveland, Colorado), Kelly Lopresto (Baton Rouge, Louisiana), and Stacy Roderick (Ardmore, Oklahoma); his son Steve Miller (Norman, Oklahoma); Jennifer Miller (Norman, Oklahoma) and their daughter Missy Miller Torgerson (Brimingham, AL); stepson Scott Taylor Kane (Brimingham AL.); and his son Chad Miller (Norman, OK). He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A private memorial service is planned in his honor.
