Lee Eldridge Buhlke , 80, of Loveland, Colo., died at the McKee Medical Center Hospice Unit in Loveland.
He was born in Garfield Co., Neb., on Oct. 5, 1926, to John and Margaret (Smith) Buhlke, and was raised in the Sand Hills. Lee attended Burwell High School.
He was a merchant seaman during World War II and was a highly decorated sergeant major in the US Army. He served for 21 years, including during the Korean War. After his military career, he retired from the utility company in Grand Island, Neb.
He was a conservative family man, loved his family and was well liked by others. Lee was a world traveler and was also very current on world politics.
Lee is survived by his wife, Mary Beth of Loveland; three sons, Rick and wife Joyce of Juniata, Neb., Dennis of Clovis, Calif., Steve of Loveland; one daughter, Beth Lee of Loveland; six grandchildren, Justin, Jennifer, Zach, Denny, Danielle and Taylor; and two great-grandchildren, Blake and Titan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Duane, Johnny and Larry.
