Inez (Vasconcellos) Vargas-Moniz, age 81, of Fall River, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017 in Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Rogerio Vargas-Moniz. Born in Taunton, a daughter of the late Joao B. and Mary B. Vasconcellos, she was a graduate of Taunton High School and a communicant of Holy Trinity Church. Mrs. Moniz lived in the United States until the age of 22. She traveled to the Azores where she married and raised her three children returning back to the states in 1989 to be with her family. She enjoyed nurturing those closest to her. She loved studying history, geography and genealogy. She is survived by two daughters, Nina Vargas-Moniz and her husband Jack Jennings of Westport, Esperana Vargas-Moniz of South Pasadena, CA; one son, Paulo Vargas-Moniz of Fall River; two sisters, Isabel Costa and Noemia Raposo; three grandchildren, Nadia and Dakotah Jennings, Raquel Chatfield-Taylor and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Maria Jose Vasconcellos, Irene Vasconcellos and Natalie Bernardino. She was the mother-in law of the late Dr. Robert Chatfield-Taylor. Her Funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 9 a.m. from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church, 951 Stafford Rd., Fall River.
