The Queenslander (Brisbane, Qld. : Saturday 30 October 1909)
Gulliver—Hamilton.
A pretty wedding was celebrated at St. Thomas's Church on December 20, when Mr. Robert H. G. Gulliver, of Brisbane, was married to Miss Agnes Hamilton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hamilton, of Tabooba, Beaudesert Tramway (writes our Beaudesert correspondent on October 22.) The Rev. H. E. Hone officiated. The church had been beautifully decorated with flowers and evergreens, above which was hung a beautiful wedding bell. There was a large number present to witness the ceremony. The bride wore a dainty gown of white silk, with yoke of tucked chiffon, the skirt showing front panel tucked with silk insertion; the train of the skirt was lover's knots and small clusters of orange blossoms; she also wore a wreath and veil and coronet of orange blossoms (the gift of a girl friend), and carried a hand some bouquet of lilies, sweet peas, carnations, asparagus plumosus, and maiden hair fern. The Misses K. and L. Hamilton acted as bridesmaids, and wore pretty Empire gowns of white Swiss muslin trimmed with embroidery, and hats in bonnet shape, relieved with lavendar and pink sweet peas; they also wore ruby brooches, and carried dainty bouquets (gifts from the bridegroom). The bride's gift to the bridegroom was a morocco dressing-case, and the bridegroom's gift to the bride a bouquet and a gold bangle. Mr. Reginald Slaughter acted as best man. Mendelssohn's "Wedding March" was played on the organ by Mrs. W. Quartermaine. After the ceremony the party adjourned to the Beaudesert Hotel, where about forty guests partook of an excellent wedding breakfast. Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Gulliver subsequently left by the afternoon train en route to Mackay, where they will in future reside. A large number of presents were received, including several cheques.
