Fred Kenneth Shelton, 74, of Battle Ground, WA, passed away at home on May 5, 2013, surrounded by his family after a long, courageous battle with congestive heart and kidney failure. He was born in Greenville, SC to Alfred and Hazel (Nalley) Shelton.
Fred served in the Army National Guard from 1961-1965.
He worked for Bemis Bag Company as a machine operator, retiring after 40 years.
After retirement, Fred and his wife, Pearl, purchased a 40 ft. coach and fulfilled their lifelong dream of traveling the states visiting friends and family.
His incredible strength and commitment to his family and friends allowed him to remain positive in the face of adversity.
Fred is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 51 years, Pearl; his companion Pug, Dixie; daughters, Robyn (Scott) and Roxann (Craig); granddaughters, Meladi (David) and Melissa (Dustin); grandsons, Justin (Kristen), Joe (Karen), Tom (Nicole) and Forrest (Amanda); great-grandson, Reilly; his brother, Larry; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Doyle and Robert.
Memorial services will be Fri., May 10, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Grace Community Church, Woodland, WA, with a graveside service at Evergreen Memorial Gardens at 12:30 p.m.
