NOTES FOR CHILDREN
The children were separated and my father (John) was placed in a foster home until the age of about 7. He was brought back to live with his sister and paternal grandparents. While this sounds like a grim story my father was reunited with his sister and maintained a wonderful relationship into their 90s. My dad was taken in by a wonderful family in Brooklyn, NY, the Gilbrides and although they were not blood relatives, we considered them family. I don't know if you can tell me why the children were not taken in by any of Catherine's family members. I would love to know more about John and Helen's life and anything you can tell me about John Travers would be greatly appreciated. My old Irish relatives were of the mind set that we did not need to know anything about family but, I am very curious.
Sincerely, Jane Mullaney Glennan
