It is currently only a theory that Francis Higginson married Lady Anne Herbert, daughter of Mary Sidney (a literary wonder of her day) and Henry Herbert. The narrative in "Philip's Phoenix: Mary Sidney, Countess of Pembroke" by Margaret P. Hannay, page 191 says that Lady Anne Herbert died in Cambridge aft December 21, 1606, but there is no record of where she is buried, which seems odd for a person of her status.
The records of Francis Higginson and his wife Anne Herbert state that his wife was very literate, which was uncommon for a woman of that time. Francis Higginson was at school in Cambridge at the time that Anne Herbert supposedly died in Cambridge.
Lady Anne Herbert's brother, William Herbert, had lied that he was sick to get out of marriage proposal, so it wasn't beyond Lady Anne Herbert to try the same thing to marry a commoner for love, Francis Higginson.
This marriage link will probably never be proven one way or the other.
