James E. Kreinest was born on February 1, 1931 to Harry T. and Julia R. Kreinest in Covington, Kentucky. Jim had five siblings: Paul, Ralph, Robert, Richard and Rosemary (all deceased).
Jim was a proud Air Force Veteran of twenty years and is survived by his loving wife, Sandra (Sande) F. Chatfield of 68 years and their six children:
Susan (Rick) Zumwalde; Pamela Kreinest; David (Christine) Kreinest; Joan (Chuck) Campbell; Judy (Steve) Robbins and Michael (Kelly) Kreinest.
There are 14 Grandchildren; Laura (Ryan) Griffin, Abby (Matt) Wilcox, Michael A. Zumwalde (deceased), Heather and April Zumwalde, Daniel and Sarah Kreinest, Carolyn and Hillary Campbell, Heather (Jay) Lewis, Emily Robbins, CHATFIELD, Price and Hadley Kreinest.
There are 10 Great Grandchildren; Tanner, Lily, Logan and Tate Griffin, Anna Zumwalde, Matty and Jake Wilcox, Reagan and Peyton Lewis, Evie Claire Whiddon.
Jim retired in Orange Park, Florida and was an active member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church and later, St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He enjoyed helping others in any way possible. He never met a stranger. He had an infectious smile and quirky sense of humor. He loved the outdoors, including long walks, fishing, hunting and building. During his "retirement", he worked for the Division of Family Services in the School Foods Department. He created his own business, "School Food Marketing" and was involved in Real Estate. Jim was known to many as the "Can do Guy", self-taught Mr. Fix it! He retired again from his many jobs to buy property in Franklin, North Carolina in order to build his wife her "dream mountain home". They moved into "their piece of Heaven" and enjoyed the Mountain Life and friends until Alzheimer's began to rob him of his many joys. He moved back to Jacksonville to be close to his children.
Jim passed away on April 10, 2021 in his home. He is at rest and will not be forgotten. He taught each of us the importance of God, family and love. We will miss you Pop.
