Dove, William Warin 58 Barnet 3a131
-----
His burial is for William Wareing Dove and on other records Warin. but it was Waring,
He was a concertina maker and there are concertina's with his name and address on. He was debtors prison in 1852, bankrupt.
I am pretty sure I have found his mother and father. He married Eleanora Locke.
-----
Dove was a former employee of Wheatstone in business in the mid 19th century.
William Dove - 20 Poland Street, Oxford Street. Dove, another ex-Wheatstone worker, started manufacturing around 1850. He did not remain in business for long according to Jones, and the company was taken over by Keith, Prowse & Co. Directory listings for Dove disappear after 1852. The two Horniman Dove instruments are Nos.217 and 234, and the lowest Prowse No 1156 (Keith, Prowse and Vicker).
An early-1850s period 48-key rosewood-ended William Dove English system, Serial No 42, with the "William Dove, Manufacturer 25, Poland Street, Oxford Street London" label wording (slightly different to the "20 Poland Street" label on Wm Dove instrument No C-258 in the Collection which has Serial No 106).
William Dove set up his own short-lived business circa 1849; there are London directory entries for him in 1850–1852 (Wayne, Concertina Book, [67]) and the Musical Directory, Register & Almanack, 1853, at 20, Poland Street, Oxford Street.
Found on Ebay.
