MOTHER
DORIS DEAN FANNIN

NEW BOSTON
Our Mother, Doris Dean Fannin, 86 years old, was born March 18, 1930 in the brick flats at 3615 Rhodes Avenue, New Boston, OH. She quietly and peacefully passed away March 11, 2017 at Hillview surrounded by her daughters. Doris spent the first 15 years of her life growing up in Morgan County, KY. She was a Fannin and married a Fannin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bessie Day Fannin and Wallace Harlan Fannin; two sisters, Reva and Geneva Fannin; and a son-in-law, Donald Thoroughman. She was a virtuous woman of noble character. Her price was far above rubies. Strength and honor were her clothing and she shall rejoice in time to come. She looked well to the ways of her household and ate not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up and call her blessed. Many daughters have done virtuously, but she excels them all. Favor is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman that fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her the fruit of her hands and let her own works praise her in the gates. Doris worked for many years as a sales clerk at Newberry's in New Boston, loved to play bingo and made quilt throws and Christmas tree skirts by hand, many of which she gave away as gifts to family and friends.

She is survived by three daughters, Phyllis Thoroughman, Carol Neal (Ron), and Deborah Smart (Joe), seven grandchildren, Shawn Thoroughman, Cindy Chatfield (Butch), James Neal Jr. (Rita), Jamie Courtney (Tre), Jodie Smart, Matthew Smart, and a very special granddaughter by choice, Ereka Mader; eight great-grandchildren, Courtney and Jonathan CHATFIELD, Zach Neal, Kylie Jo and Kole Vastine, Quade Courtney, Colton Scaggs, and Chanson Smart.

The family would like to thank the staff of SOMC ER, ICU, Surgical Vascular unit, SOMC Hospice and Hillview Nursing on the 3rd Floor. A special thank you to Dr. Hill and Dr. Betts for all their kindness and compassion.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2017 in New Boston with Pastor Acy Gibson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace.
